    Watercolor Gallery
Artist Mike Oeming shared the following POWERS watercolors on the Jinxworld message board. What follows is his commentary on the process, as well as a progression study of Deena and each of the finished peices. Watercolor commissions are available from Mike upon request.

    Deena - Interation #1:
Mike: After penciling, I layed down a base layer -color, blue. This is a trick learned from Brian Stellfreeze - and the base color choice does not have to be just blue, it can work with any color. I think the idea is:

  • The method gives the painting a tone or a specific value
  • It's a good way to get greater range from your other colors.

    Deena - Interation #2:
Mike: Next, I layed down the other colors, using variations on those colors to get more depth. Then I inked it, using a thin pen on just the outlines - but notice I didn't do it on all the painting, just parts to draw your eye to the middle.
Then I adjusted contrast and such a bit in photoshop.
